Freyssinet Australia is seeking a Project Engineer / Estimator with strong hands‑on site experience to join our Melbourne-based Remedial team. This is an opportunity to work on technically complex remediation and strengthening projects that extend the life of critical infrastructure across Australia.

The Role

As a Project Engineer / Estimator in our Remedial division, you will contribute to both site delivery and pre-contract activities—bringing practical construction knowledge into estimating, planning, and tender development.

You’ll collaborate closely with our engineering, technical, and delivery teams to develop innovative, competitive solutions for a wide range of remedial projects across the region.

This position is based in Melbourne.

Key Responsibilities

🔹 Apply practical, hands-on construction knowledge to develop accurate cost estimates
🔹 Support development of construction methodologies, staging, programs and delivery strategies
🔹 Assist in preparing detailed and competitive tender submissions
🔹 Work with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain pricing and validate methodologies
🔹 Provide engineering input into pre-contract planning, risk reviews and constructability
🔹 Participate in site visits, inspections and assessments to support accurate scoping

Types of Projects

You’ll support and help deliver specialist works such as:

• Concrete repair and rehabilitation

• Protective coatings and marine asset maintenance

• Steel and CFRP structural strengthening

• Bridge, wharf, industrial, commercial and water infrastructure upgrades

About You

You bring strong technical understanding from the field and thrive in a collaborative, problem-solving environment.

Essential:

✔ Minimum 3–5 years’ experience as a Project Engineer, Site Engineer, or similar role
✔ Hands-on site experience in remedial works, strengthening, marine, or specialist construction
✔ Strong capability in planning, methodologies, costing input, and document preparation
✔ Ability to interpret drawings, scopes, and site conditions
✔ Strong communication, organisation, and a proactive approach

Previous estimating experience is beneficial but not essential – training will be provided for the right engineering-background candidate.
