Pre‑Contracts Engineer / Estimator – Bridge & Structures

About the Role

Freyssinet Australia is seeking a Pre‑Contracts Engineer / Estimator with bridge construction site experience to support the development and conversion of major civil infrastructure opportunities. This role is ideal for someone who has spent time on bridge, structural, or post‑tensioning projects onsite and is now looking to transition into a pre‑contracts or office‑based technical/commercial position.

Based in our Macquarie Park office, you will work closely with our Pre‑Contracts, Engineering, Business Development, and Operations teams to help develop tender strategies, construction methodologies, and accurate cost estimates for complex structural works across Australia.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the preparation of tender estimates, including quantities, production rates, subcontractor inputs, and cost analysis.

• Review tender documentation, identify scope requirements, assess risks and opportunities, and provide technical insights.

• Work with clients, designers, subcontractors, and internal stakeholders to gather and verify project information.

• Assist in developing construction methodologies, staging, and preliminary programs—drawing on your site experience.

• Prepare technical submission components, including methodology statements and temporary works concepts (with support from Engineering).

• Participate in tender reviews, internal governance, and handover processes to ensure clarity on scope and delivery strategy.

• Build relationships with suppliers, subcontractors, and key industry stakeholders.

About You

• Background in Civil or Structural Engineering.

• Hands‑on site experience on bridge or structural infrastructure projects is essential (e.g., post‑tensioned bridges, cable‑stayed structures, strengthening, bearing replacement, or similar).

• Desire to transition into (or continue developing in) pre‑contracts, estimating, or tendering.

• Strong analytical and technical skills, with the ability to understand construction sequencing and site constraints.

• Confident communicator who can collaborate across engineering, operations, and commercial functions.

• Organised, detail‑oriented, and capable of managing multiple tasks during tender peaks.
